Pembrokeshire Avifauna committee in Eider, Mathew, rare, wildfowl, winter

Somateria mollissima

An occasional winter visitor; rare.

We saw some adults of this beautiful bird in the Stackpole collection, that had been obtained at Stackpole, or on the coast between Stackpole and Tenby. Mr. Dix mentions an immature male that had been shot near Pembroke, as also being in Lord Cawdor's collection, and an adult male, which he believes had been killed in Carmarthenshire. A young male Eider was shot at Dale, January 18th, 1891.
