Pembrokeshire Avifauna committee in Mathew, Pintail, wildfowl, winter

Dafila acuta

A winter visitor; scarce.

Sir Hugh Owen has seen and killed many Pintails on Goodwick Moor. But only 28 were taken on Orielton Decoy in eight seasons, and this fact would indicate that this species is rare. We have never met with it ourselves. It is a most excellent bird for the table.
