Pembrokeshire Avifauna committee in Mathew, Tufted Duck, wildfowl, winter

Fuligula cristata

A winter visitor ; common.

This small species, one of the most active in diving of all the diving Ducks, is occasionally met with on inland ponds. We have seen it in little parties on the lake at Stackpole in the early spring, and one winter one was shot on one of the ponds at Stone Hall. It may occasionally remain to nest. Great numbers are to be seen during the winter diving in the shallows in Goodwick Bay.
