Red-crested Pochard - 1990 onwards

Netta rufina - Vagrant

1999 - Male at Withybush Wood pond 24 Nov - Dec, with metal ring on leg and badly pinioned left wing.

2003 - Female Bosherston 11 Nov – 31 Dec (RJH, DJA et al ), another female Pembroke M P 30 Nov -  31 Dec (JH, PJ, M-YP). Third and fourth county records.

2004 - Single females Bosherston 1 & 2 Jan (LL, TJP) and Pembroke M P 1 Jan – 26 Mar (JH et al), juv Thomas Chapel 6-21 Oct (J & MB).

2007 - The only record was of a pair at rosebush Reservoir, 17-20 Feb (PKG, RD)

2010 - A surprise find was a male Red-crested Pochard in the middle of Angle Bay – so where did that escape from ?

Mathew records a duck shot at Stackpole (no date) and now in British Museum.

Red-crested Pochard

Vagrant

Mathew (1894) records a duck shot at Stackpole (no date). This was lodged in the British Museum , which states it is a male presented by Earl Cawdor, is undated and was from Milford Haven (P. Colston pers. comm.). A female was at Bosherston Pools from 9-20 September 1982 (J.W. Donovan et al.).
